Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Nail Idea Using Milani's Sugar Burst

Time flies and it's already the end of October. I wanted to post this Pink Breast Cancer Awareness nail idea at the beginning of the month and do another halloween themed nail art at the end of the month but sadly didn't have the time.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month so what's better to raise awareness than doing a pretty pink nails design.

This is a very simple nail design that looks pretty and can be easily done by yourself.

EOS Visibly Soft Lip Balm Sphere review

Hello everybody, a while ago, I was strolling around kohl's and came across a new version of the EOS lip balm sphere called visibly soft. Instead of being one solid color, the visibly soft line is packaged in a sphere that's a swirl of color.
addition of EOS visibly soft to EOS lip balm collection

It shocked me because I didn't hear anything about this release at all- not on my favorite beauty blogger's page nor in magazines. Seeing that it promises to give an "immediately softer" lip I had to fight the urge to buy them and finally during labor day weekend I picked it up with my 20% off coupon at Bed Bath and Beyond.

EOS Visibly Soft Lip Balm Sphere with pink swirls in coconut milk review

There are two versions of the visibly soft collection:  vanilla mint with blue swirls and coconut milk with pink swirls which I bought. I not much of a fan of vanilla and I've previously tried a vanilla scented lip balm and didn't like it so I chose coconut milk.

The one I bought was sealed up in a nice cardboard package. On the back there is an expiration date that's imprinted on the cardboard. Side note: they also sell them without the cardboard packaging and just wrapped in plastic.

What I noticed is that compared to my very first EOS lip balm, lemon drop, the quality of the round case that surrounds that lip balm has considerably drop. When I got my first lip balm, just holding the round sphere with its soft cushion on the outside was so delightful. When I placed my finger on the thumb convexed area, it was completely flat and lined up with the ridges exactly. When I bought my second EOS lip balm, I already saw a decrease in the quality of the packaging.

EOS visibly soft compared to original lip balm
Subsequently, the newly released EOS visibly soft lip balm has an even lower quality. As you can see on the left, the edges on the thumb convexed area does not line up correctly when it's clicked in place. It almost feels like I am borrowing the cap from a different lip balm and does not fit exactly. While the older version on the right is more perfectly lined up, when you are actually holding it, you can feel the area is not smooth and the top half is jutting out. Still even though the older version is not as high quality as the very first EOS that I bought, it's still remarkably better than the newer ones produced now.

As I was still hyped up with this new visibly soft lip sphere to add to my collection, once I got home I ripped open the package and swiped it on my lips. To my disappointment, there was no significant change. The formula was a bit softer and bit more emollient. That's it. It goes on clear and gives your lips a tiny bit of a waxy shine.  My first thought on the scent was that it smelled sweet. If this wasn't labeled coconut milk, I wouldn't think coconut but knowing that it should be scented like coconut, it does faintly smell like coconut and is an enjoyable scent. You still needed to reapply every 2-3 hours like the original version. This is still one of those daily lip balm and not those heavy duty ones that you pull out in winter to relieve your chapped lips.

I looked up the ingredients to the old version and randomly chose honeydew to see what was the difference in formulation compared to the new visibly soft version was and was surprised to find that there was basically no change in the ingredients aside for the addition of vitamin C and  polyglyceryl-3 diisostearate (which I had no idea what it is but EWG told me it's a conditioning agent) that was way down on the ingredient list.

So unless you are a collector, I do not think it is necessary to purchase the new visibly soft version if you already have other EOS lip spheres.

On the moisturizing scale it would be a 6 out of 10 which is one point higher than the original version. If you need something more moisturizing, I would definitely go with the visibly soft line over the original one while the original formula is perfect for the summer time. Out of all the EOS lip balm I have, if I have to choose my favorite one, it would still be the lemon drop one. I feel that the lemon drop one is the most moisturizing, emollient, and cushiony one out of the entire lip sphere line and it has a nice lemon creme biscuit scent that I am totally in love with.

EOS lip balm collection lined up in V position

What do you think about the new EOS visibly soft lip balm compared to the original formula? For those who tried the vanilla mint version, how did you like that one?

Sweet and simple holiday sparkle nail idea and review of Golden Rule by SallyHansen

Hello Everybody!!!

It's Christmas today and New Years is just around the corner.

I relaxed all day at home and decided to upload this nail idea.

simple-holiday-sparkle-nails.jpg

Normally I just put on OPI's heartthrob and call it a day but for the holidays I decided to add a bit of sparkle. I decided to add glitter to my fourth nail. The one I chose Golden rule by SallyHansen from the complete salon manicure line. I had to apply 4 layers to get the full on glitter effect but its worth it. The glitter has a light gold tint to it and looks refined so it would still be appropriate but office work.

The nail color to make this look was perfect however I am a bit disappointed with the nail polish. The SallyHansen complete salon manicure line is supposed to be a high quality nail polish however the formula clotted up after a couple uses and goes on blobby. I don't know if this is because it's a glitter nail polish but if this was a flat color, I would be disappointed.

Overall, Golden Rule is a pretty nail polish that gives a golden tint of glitter just the way I like it.

Orly cotton candy nail polish review

Orly nail polish review in cotton candy

For the longest time ever I have always wanted to try out Orly nail polish. So when I  saw that cvs is having a 50% off on the whole Orly line I quickly picked it up. If you guys are a fan of Orly, head over to cvs right now before  they sell out. I got mines for ~4 after the sale. Now onto my review.

orly nail polish in cotton candy that is light pink and opaque

Out of all the colors I think cotton candy is the prettiest. Its a light pink opaque color leaning towards the salmon color. I would say the color looks more like the second picture. One coat is opaque enough to cover nail line but this is by far the streakyest nailpolish I have ever tried. I had to apply 3 coats so that the streaks would not be apparent. The application was horrible and I think its due to the brush- it was stiff and doesn't spread the color- just streaks its. I am usually in a good mood putting on my nail polish, while putting this nail polish on, I was just so frustrated at the brush and streaks.

Thankfully, the color came out opaque, shiny, and it lasted 3-4 days before starting to chip.

Overall I would not try Orly again. sticking to my holy grail Essie and OPI. I wanted to like Orly with its nice grip but the application was such a horrible experience I would not go back to it again.

If you have a better experience with Orly or any other nail polish you like please comment away.

Sephora Nail Bling decorated nail stickers review

Since summer is already here, wanted to do some pretty nails to wear with my summer dress.
I was browsing in sephora and of course I go directly to the sale area and found these 3d nail stickers that I've always wanted. They look awfully similar to the essie nail stickers that I've heard raves from but I haven't got a chance to try those yet. I checked up the price for these and seeing that its $3 I couldn't let go of it. They are called Sephora Nail Bling in golden bubbles.
3d nail stickers golden drops
here's the directions in the back
As you can see they are 3D stickers. They are really pretty like golden dew drops. They are translucent so I think its best if you paint on a base color before applying these.

For $3 its a steal cause it comes with 18 stickers that comes in different sizes to fit your nail.
I've already used two that why you only see 16 stickers
I was surprised at the performance of these. Since they were on sale I was thinking they were't going to be good but boy am I wrong. They lasted for longer than a week!! I was typing, washing my hair, doing everything and it didn't fall off. It did take a while to shape the sticker to the exact size of my nail though so it not exactly a speedy nail thing.

Borghese Brilliante base and top coat
OPI heartthrob

I didn't really follow the directions listed on the label. I painted two coats of OPI's heartthrob and after it fully dried I then positioned the sticker on my nail, folded over the excess and filed in one direction until the excess sticker fell off. Because the 3D drops were impossible to file off and I had to cut off some of the dew drops. After I got my exact nail size I then lifted up the sticker, added a drop of clear nail polish  ( I used Borghese's Brilliante Base and Top Coat) at the edge of my nail then pressed the sticker tightly over it and let it dry. Finally I sealed the edges with the clear nail polish. I would say the hardest part of this nail art was filing it to the exact size of my nails. It's longlasting and removed easily with nail polish. I couldn't stop running my fingers over the drops. Felt like my nails were bedazzled. Would definitely buy these again.

these are my finished nails. I only did the fourth finger as an accent. Didn't want to do the entire nail since first it will take too long and second might look too cheesy.
